Let Them Eat..........

.......Butterflies??????

Of course not! But there is something rather ethereal about these delicious little morsels - butterfly cakes. Light sponge cake and softly whipped buttercream, flavoured with real vanilla extract. Wings lightly dusted with icing sugar and a sprinkling of pale pink glitter.
Served on a dainty, flower sprigged tea plate.
Afternoon tea anyone?
I'm off to put the kettle on.
Bye for now,

Fairy Wings Restored

After one too many flights, the fairy wings were looking rather worse for wear. In fact, they were a sorry sight indeed, broken in two and feathers falling off. This state of affairs could not continue, so I gave them some tlc. I think they look ready for anything now.

Pink, gold, glitter and flowers, what more could a fairy desire?
Mmm, maybe a Fairy Prince to take her to a Grand Ball.
A dashing knight on a beautiful white stallion to carry her off to Fairyland.
Or maybe she could just stay at home and flit around the house scattering fairy dust and good wishes.
Now that's a wonderful idea!!!!!!
And when she's finished around this house she could send some good wishes to everyone who reads this.Consider them sent.
Have a great weekend,
Blessings,

Lazy Days

Mmmm, I'm feeling rather tired. Must be these dark winter days. HFH (Her Fairy Highness) has her back turned so I think I'll settle down here. Ahhh, this is the life. Zzzzzzzzz.........

Uh oh, I think she's spotted me. Yup, I'm certain she has.
Oh well, she doesn't seem too concerned about my presence on the newly made bed. I will keep checking though, just to make sure it's ok.
Zzzzzzzz.........
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......dreaming of a nice juicy steak........
Dreaming I'm being chased by a fox.....................zzzzzzzMmm, that was some dream. Enjoyed the snooze. Nothing like a little quality shut eye to refresh and pep up the appetite. Time to go down and check whether there's a juicy steak in my dish. After all, dreams can come true you know!!!!

A Childhood Treasure

Hello dear Friends,
I thought I may as well continue with the whimsical theme that has been occupying me more than usual recently. I think it must be the aftermath of Christmas plus this awful January weather that is really getting me down. Anyway, nothing wrong with a little escapism now and then as far as I am concerned. This little fella is a very elderly childhood friend. I can't remember how long ago I bought him but I do know he was bought on a family visit to the seaside. I made the sweet little crown for him following instructions from Sandra Evertson's gorgeous blog (post date 8th November, 07) for which I thank her for so generously sharing.

He might not be to everyones' taste but I love him to bits.
Enjoy your weekend.
Take care,
Sandi x

Fairy Mischief

These two have been plotting mischief! They have raided my pearl collection and dressed up the mannequin.
I think they have done a pretty good job though.
And I'm not at all surprised that they wanted to add a little cheer to the day. It is so dark and gloomy here, raining again and very lowering to the spirits. I think we all need a little extra sparkle in our lives, especially at this time of the year.
I hope that you agree.
Take care and enjoy your day whatever you are doing. I'm off to put the kettle on for a nice cheering cup of tea.
Until next time.
Hugs,

It's Playtime

I was doing a little light tidying recently and found a box containing lots of little dollies. I thought that they deserved a bit of freedom, after all, they've been confined to their box for years.
How could I have neglected them so?

I used to collect 'costume dolls' as a child and kept them carefully displayed in a special cabinet. Sadly, they are now all in a suitcase up in the loft. I may get them down one day and display them once more.
I guess I have always been a magpie, collecting and hoarding all kinds of things. Once a collector, always a collector.
Until next time,
Hugs,

Three Kinds Of Sweetness

Isn't she lovely. This bag contained a Christmas gift from a sweet friend. I would have been just as happy to receive this as a gift in itself, I love it so much. I send warmest wishes to her and a thank you for always being there for me.

Now on to sweetness of an edible kind. I love proper, old fashioned puddings and steamed syrup sponge comes high on my list of favourites.
All that liquid gold is delicious.
With a dollop of fresh cream of course.
This is an apple and sweet mincemeat tart. A good way of using up any leftover mincemeat from the Christmas mincepies. It reminds me of a sunflower.
It tasted pretty good too.
Hope you are all enjoying your week.
Hugs,

Winter Beauty

I love the outline of the bare trees against the dusk sky.

The tracery of thousands of tiny branches.
The mixed hedgerows that surround the fields.
The mixture of treetops silhouetted against the swirling clouds.
Even the mast which strikes an alien note and yet has it's own metal branches reaching skywards.
A patchwork of fields and a pool of silver water. I love the beauty of winter.
And I absolutely adore these little cuties.
Take care,
Until next time,

Happy New Year

I would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. May you all have good health, peace and happiness. We stayed up to welcome in the new year and had a lovely, giggly time. We got slightly tipsy and watched Jools Holland on telly. His new year show has become a real favourite in our house. We have never been keen on going out on new year's eve', but it's each to their own.
Instead of popping a champagne cork I decided to bake a cake and we each had a slice of this at midnight.
Mr Dante had a good time too. I think he has really enjoyed his festive season. Lots of treats and everyone around to give him oodles of fuss.
This is me, done up to the nines ready to celebrate.
It's nice to dress up now and then isn't it?
A vintage flower completes the ensemble.
I hope you all enjoyed your new year's eve' however you spent it.
I now look forward to lots more blogging which I really enjoy. It has become a part of my life and such a fun pastime. I love learning about others lives and cultures, but most of all I love the friendships that develop through cyber space.
Take care.
Hugs,
