Moods

My husband took Dante for a walk this afternoon and took these moody pictures.

I love them.

You can almost imagine yourself standing at the base of this tree, straining your neck to see right to the top.

Just beautiful.

Meanwhile, to change the mood completely...........

I found this a couple of weeks ago at a charity/thrift shop. It is so sparkly and in perfect condition despite its obvious age.

As I didn't want to go out walking I made some of these. We scoffed some this afternoon washed down with large mugs of tea.

There are still plenty left though. Anyone care to join me?

Comfort Food

Now that the days are chillier and the nights are drawing in, my thoughts turn to comfort food. Simple, warming home cooked dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Cottage Pie is delicious and I make mine with fresh minced steak from one of our traditional, local butchers. The potatoes are locally grown and we buy them from the weekly market held 'underneath the Town Hall'. They make the creamiest mash and I always add a good dollop of fresh cream and plenty of butter.

I photographed this hot and sizzling from the oven.....Mmmm.

We like to accompany ours with pickled red cabbage. The crunchiness contrasts beautifully with the smoothness of the potato topping.

I love winter food!!!!

Full of Promise

My husband surprised me last week with these. Lilies are one of my favourite flowers. So much promise in those pale pink buds.

These must be the Show Girls of the flower world once they open and reveal their true colours.

And what colours they are!!!!!!

The perfume is almost overwhelmingly heavy and truly exotic.

The detail on the petals is amazing.

These ravishing beauties brightened up my world and I thought I would share them with you.

I hope you like them as much as I do.

Season of Mists

A misty Sunday morning in Shropshire.

A very happy dog enjoying a morning stroll.

A mist covered cobweb - isn't this just gorgeous?

Even prettier, natures magic.

Already lots of berries on the holly trees.

A sign of a hard winter to come.

Stunning scarlet berries.

Fiery red leaves.

A leaf strewn pathway through the wood.

Every season has its own beauty and I think Autumn is particularly dramatic. The colours are so rich and vibrant and the mist lends an extra dimension. A cobweb beaded with moisture is natures own jewel. Bright scarlet berries outshine any man made beads. Fallen leaves form a soft natural carpet and trees appear as black lace against the backdrop of the sky. How wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brightest Blessings

New Knitting Needles and Vintage Sindy

I have been able to knit since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I have to confess though that I haven't picked up a pair of knitting needles for years. That is until I discovered these little beauties. Aren't they just the cutest knitting needles you ever clapped eyes on. I bought them from a web site called Laughing Hens and they are Art Viva hand made needles. Each size has a different coloured end and I wanted to buy the whole set but they are quite expensive.

Now on to a recent ebay purchase. As I love all things vintage I was looking for Christmas decorations, paticularly fairies. This little lady is a Sindy doll and I think she is just gorgeous. She won't go on the top of the tree, that honour is bestowed on a fairy that I dressed when my children were little. I also add lots of my dolly peg fairies too. I think this sugar pink outfit is just delicious. A girl can never have too many fairies around the house and there is always room for just one more!!!!
