My Festive Season

Some pretty pictures taken over the past few days.

I hope that you enjoyed your festive season.

I am about to venture into the kitchen to prepare
some food for tonight.

We always stay up to welcome in the new year.

I got these from a charity shop.

I love my collection of stockings
gathered over the years.

Cherubs are another favourite thing..........

and angels.

Vintage Christmas deco's.

Especially the hand made.

and the glass.

Love 'em all really.

I ventured into the freezing garden earlier today
and noticed this dainty little beauty.

The water in the can is frozen solid.....Brrrrr.

Frost adds a lacy edge to the leaves.

Chilly!
I'm going to play dress-up tonight - I made
some special slippers to wear when I dance
around the house.
Until next time,
Hugs and brightest blessings,
Sandi xxxx

Baubles ~

The main tree is finally decorated.

I don't stick to a colour theme as I have decorations collected over thirty years.
It's like meeting old and much loved friends each year when they are taken out of their boxes and admired all over again.
We have always bought several new ones each year and this year I have aquired some lovely vintage ones which I feel sure could tell many stories if only they could talk.
Perfect, twinkly little memories.
Lots and lots of different styles.
Love them all.
Glittering gauziness.
Childlike playfulness.
Year upon year more and more characters add to the festive scene.
Surely the true spirit of Christmas is this. Not the frantic having and getting, the stressed and anxious faces thronging the shopping malls.
This year has been a time of taking stock for many people the world over. Maybe now is the time to recapture the joy of simpler times and no, I am not looking back through rose-tinted spectacles. But I do remember how special Christmas used to be.
I have been creating things to give as presents and such pleasure I have had in doing so.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone who reads my posts a peaceful and pleasant festive season.
Bye for now,
Sandi x

Drawing Closer ~

An alternative Christmas stocking. I made this a few years ago after seeing something similar in a magazine. This is ideal for the person who hopes to receive a small but exquisite gift that can be popped into the top of the 'boot'. Ahem.......a girl can dream ;)
Until next time,

Dolls House Christmas

A candy cane garland strung over the fireplace. A log fire crackles in the grate and everything feels cosy.

Someone is sleeping gently.....ssshhhhh.
The stocking has been hung from the bed.
Christmas goodies on the kitchen table.
Presents in the hallway - I wonder what's in that bulging sack?
The upstairs landing where the larger toys are kept.
A picture of the family dog.
I think that this sign was found in a junk shop - it now takes pride of place in the bedroom.
A tiny fairy doll rests on the babys cradle.
Christmas wreath hung on the outside wall.
The bathroom vanity looks festive all year round.
Hmm - that's a very large bottle of bubble bath.
I don't like the way that Ginger is eyeing up the fish!
That's all for now from 'The Chimneys'.
Bye from me,
Sandi :)

Anticipation

Ooooooo the excitement of hanging the stockings.........

I remember it sooooo well. That special magic of Christmas Eve and in my opinion the most exciting part of the festive season.
The toys, which were once presents themselves, now await the arrival of that very special visitor. I wonder what they will find in their stockings?
This fella loves Christmas too - he has a very sparkly stocking which will be carefully placed under the tree which we never put up until nearer the day.
Hope your preparations are going to plan.
Bye for now,
Sandi x
