September days

When the sun shines and it's warm there's a feeling that summer is still hanging on. But there is a change in the air; the light is different, the sun sets sooner and sometimes it feels chillier.  I love this transitional time when cosy evenings beckon; the garden is retiring for its winter rest, the birds are flying to warmer places and the animals are not quite so keen to stay outside. Cooking becomes a pleasure once more, I love warming, hearty food and baking pies and cakes.  Each season brings its own pleasures but I think Autumn is my favourite time of all.
