Fairy Frivolity

Here are some more of my creations. I love making these little sweeties as every one is different and each seems to take on a different character. Hope you enjoy looking at them.

Friday night snoozing

Ahhh....It's a tough life for a dog these
days. Been sooooooooo busy today,
now I'm positively exhausted.
Can't possibly manage to do another
thing, it is Friday night after all. Zzzzz.
This very tired pooch is Dante,
he has been part of our lives for 15
months now since we met him at
Dogs Trust, Roden. He is an adorable
character and this is exactly how he likes
to wind down at the end of the day. Or
at the beginning of the day. O.K. to be really,
really honest, this is what he likes to do most
at any time of the day, or night.
He wishes you all a peaceful good-night.

Charity shop bargains

I thought I would share this with you.
I love the little picture with the message
on it which I found in the local Oxfam
shop for 50p. The green candle holder
was another recent charity shop purchase,
it cost all of £2.50, another bargain.
I just swooped on it as soon as I spotted it.
I don't know about you fellow thrifters
but I always get a real buzz when I see
something that appeals to my particular
taste. I'm sure I buy the stuff that no one else
gives a second glance. Ah well, all the more
lovely things for me to buy. The pink tray
was plain brown until quite recently, so I gave it
"The Treatment". Paint, sandpaper and a coat
or three of glitter, naturally. The sweet little candles
have been around for years and are far too pretty to
light, they even have little diamantes set into them,
another of my favourite things. I am now going to
enjoy a lovely glass of G&T with ice and a slice.
Cheers!

Hope you like her.

Fairy Magic

I thought I would do a little creating today.
I have assembled a lovely tray full of goodies to inspire me.
One of my pastimes is creating sweet little fairies.
They wear frocks of lace , flowers and leaves in their hair
and of course carry a wand to grant three wishes.
Must get busy now and I will show one of my beauties in
my next post.

Shabby chic project

I love little projects that only take a few hours to do. This little stool was dark brown and dingy. A lick of paint, some flowers and lashings of glitter soon had this ugly duckling looking like a beautiful swan. At least I think so!!!!

More rearranged pretties

This is a collection of things in my bedroom which I really love
and wanted to share with you.
The jug holds hat pins. The large square
one was a Christmas present from my husband. It is Victorian
and is really pretty. I'm sure if I went out wearing that in a hat
I would be arrested for carrying an offensive weapon. Lol. That
pin is seriously sharp.

This is a small collection of powder puffs.. The orange one
is quite old and I bought it in the original box which says
Good Luck on the lid. It was wrapped in a silk handkerchief
and it makes me wonder if it was a gift to a bride. I like to think
so - very romantic.

The rather beautiful dressing table top rarely sees the light
of day, it is usually hidden beneath all my "stuff". The
wire shelf sitting above it holds a variety of bits and pieces.
I bought this for £5.00 and heaved it home in a bin bag.
I think it was worth it though.
I know this is my second post today but please indulge me
a while. I'm sure the novelty will wear off eventually, but
this blogging is seriously addictive.
Until next time, bye for now.

Rainy days and rearranging

First day off and it's raining again. Never mind, perfect excuse for a little recreational housework. You know the type I mean. Not scrubbing and vacuuming, cleaning the cooker or ironing. I'm talking a little light dusting here, a rearranging of pretties there. Now my bedroom is a minimalists nightmare. Being absolutely honest, it's full to the brim with bric-a-brac, knick-knacks, doo-dads, call it what you will. Anyway, fortified with a brunch of bacon and eggs I sallied forth. I dust all delicate stuff with a large old blusher brush that my sis gave to me years ago. It's soft and fluffy, ideal for the task in hand.
Several hours and much photographing later I was reasonably happy with the fruits of my labour. Until the next time of course...... See what you think.

Painted flowers and sparkly bags

I mentioned in my first post that I love flowers and glitter. All flowers and as much glitter as I can get away with. In my opinion there can never be too much glitter!!!

This is a picture of one of my wardrobes, there is also a larger one and a dressing table, all with the same hand-painted flowers. I saw this bedroom set at a local antique centre just before last Christmas and just fell in love with it. I went home, took out the tape measure and decided it would all fit into my bedroom. The next task was to drag husband along and convince him that we really needed it. I was more than happy for it to be my Christmas present and it was installed by the time Christmas arrived. I'm not usually so happily indulged but I am thrilled to bits with my flowery bower. I vowed not to hang anything from the handles but that was short-lived and a few things have been added.. I'm not good at minimalism, I just don't get it. I need lots of pretty things to look at and enjoy. Judging by all the lovely blogs out there that I have only recently discovered I know I am not alone. Once I am more familiar with the whole proccess [I'm a real technophobe] I will add some of my favourite blogs to mine. Until then thank you all for the pleasure you give.

A few of my favourite things

This is my very first post and I thought I would show you a few of my favourite things. I love all things vintage, shabby chic and pretty. Particularly anything featuring flowers, faeries, cherubs and glitter!
I love crafting, gardening, walking my dog, cooking and reading. I have a large collection of interiors, gardening and cookery books, plus lots and lots of magazines.

Cherubs, I just love 'em. Two old favourites of mine. The cutie strumming the mandolin was a pressie from my children when they were much younger. The other a gift from my husband.

Cherubs and lace, a recent purchase. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Bye for now and hope to be back soon.
