Comfort Food

Now that the days are chillier and the nights are drawing in, my thoughts turn to comfort food. Simple, warming home cooked dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Cottage Pie is delicious and I make mine with fresh minced steak from one of our traditional, local butchers. The potatoes are locally grown and we buy them from the weekly market held 'underneath the Town Hall'. They make the creamiest mash and I always add a good dollop of fresh cream and plenty of butter.

I photographed this hot and sizzling from the oven.....Mmmm.

We like to accompany ours with pickled red cabbage. The crunchiness contrasts beautifully with the smoothness of the potato topping.
I love winter food!!!!
